On October 17, the CRTC approved four new FM radio licences in Edmonton and three in Red Deer. Aboriginal Multi-Media Society of Alberta (AMMAS) received a licence for a new English- and Aboriginal-language Native Type B FM radio station to serve Edmonton along with 36 transmitters to serve communities across Alberta. John Yerxa (son of the late Hal Yerxa, founder of CFCW), got the nod for newfm107.com targetting 12 - 34 year olds, Rawlco Radio gets a sister station for Magic99 with a new music and emerging artists format and CTV gets a sister station for the Bounce with an alternative pop and rock format. Harvard was awarded its first licence in Edmonton for a "female oriented Adult Album Alternative" targetting women over 25 which will likely compete with EZ Rock. CPRS Edmonton is holding a PD luncheon on targetting customers on November 21, CPRS Calgary's luncheon is on election campaigns on November 19. IABC Edmonton's November 26 luncheon is on the public consultation process, IABC Calgary is holding a Christmas party on November 27. The Meeting Planners International (MPI) - Edmonton chapter is holding a workshop on presentations on November 19, and MPI Calgary is holding their Christmas party on November 20. Digital Media Alberta is holding a workshop in Banff from November 20 to 23 on "How to Make Mistakes on Purpose."
